When I met the clients for this piece they had strong design ideas and provided me with a good idea of what they were looking for.
They wanted a sideboard that fitted into their modern kitchen that complimented their existing oak dining table and cabinet. They also liked the idea of sliding doors that would offer easily accessible storage. Additionally they wanted to be able to see the craftsmanship of the piece in the form of visible joints.
When designing the piece I took all these factors into consideration. I also designed the legs to tie in with those on their existing pieces of furniture in the kitchen. From the initial meeting I also noted that the clients wanted carved handles so I provided them with some examples to get an idea of what they were looking for and to help them with their choice.
The finished product was one that the clients were extremely happy with and slotted seamlessly into their kitchen.
